BVE 2012: Eyeheight loudness monitoring for Avid

With recent clampdowns on audio in broadcast, BVE 2012 was bound to feature a few loudness monitoring products. One of the most interesting we've seen so far is Eyeheight's KARMAudio AU plug-in. Here, they reveal how it will soon be available for Media Composer 6 and Pro Tools.

Eyeheight are specialists in broadcast compliance, producing legalisers, safe area generators and other tools to make sure you're working within broadcast regulations. KARMAudio AU is a Final Cut plug-in that does automatic loudness correction for the latest loudness specifications. It is based on ITU-R BS.1770 multi-channel perceptual loudness and true peak measurement and sophisticated proprietary correction algorithms.

Soon, you'll be able to use the same KARMAudio AU app in your Avid workflow too, as Eyeheight R&D director, SImon Pegg, explained: "We're also in the process of porting that over and making it available as a Media Composer 6 and Pro Tools plug-in as well, so you'll be able to work natively in those, do your export through our loudness correction tools and know that when you deliver your files to your customer, they're going to meet the latest DPP and EBU specs."

If you work in S3D, Eyeheight have some tools for your workflow too. "We also do some specialist tools for people working in 3D, so we have a 3D legaliser product, a 3D colour corrector and even a 3D logo inserter for you to very quickly add a bit of branding to your 3D footage for when you're shooting in dual stream SDI or HD-SDI," Simon added.
